The director, OBAYASHI NOBUHIKO, set "I Are You, You Am Me" (TENKOSEI) 1982, "The Time Traveler" (TOKI WO KAKERU SHOJO) 1983, and "Lonely Heart" (also known as "Miss Lonely") in his hometown of ONOMICHI. All three films are delightful fantasies of youth. In "Miss Lonely", the story in which the hero's mother appears to him as she looked when she was a girl, is given substance by the simple depiction of scenery, characters, and the realistic elements of daily life. The youth of the hero, his mother, and the director are intertwined and brought to the screen with nostalgia, and a warm sensitivity to the passing of time.
