General Director of Acropolis Museum to deliver Stavros Niarchos Foundation lecture

The Hellenic Studies Program is pleased to announce that the 2025 Stavros Niarchos Foundation lecture will be delivered by General Director of the Acropolis Museum, Nikolaos Stampolidis.   An eminent archaeologist and author of seven books, his lecture will explore the dynamic field of public archaeology in contemporary Greece. Using the ancient Cretan city of Eleutherna as a case study, he will illustrate how public archaeology integrates scientific research, cultural heritage management, digital technologies, public engagement, tourism, and economic considerations.

Director Stampolidis’s lecture will take place on April 9th at 5pm in the Luce Hall Auditorium.

This lecture is being supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the George Herbert Walker, Jr. Lecture Fund.
