Alejandro Varas Alvarado

I am a playanchino "taxi teacher", a "boletario" in the academic world, a psychologist in ruins, a critical pedagogue, a "cimarrero", a "teatrero" in the Theatre of the Oppressed, and a militant in the reserve army in the "social area" in Chile. Currently I am a student in the Doctorado en Estudios Interdisciplinarios sobre Pensamiento, Cultura y Sociedad at the UV and I am a teacher in the Educational Psychology Area at the UNAB. I am part of the research collective "Hechoengénero", the theater collective "Cuchilla'e palo" and the Coordinadora de Trabajadorxs del Área Social "CITAS". My current doctoral project seeks to explore the possibilities of theatre of the oppressed for working with educators, to analyze the practices of hegemonic masculinity and to eradicate patriarchal violence.
