Alex Guzman Caceres
Alex (she/her) is a rising junior in Timothy Dwight
College majoring in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration. As the first
in her family to be born in the United States, Alex has been
passionate about rediscovering Guatemala’s forgotten histories
and understanding the role American imperialism has played in
causing numerous human rights violations and widespread poverty.
Her academics mostly focus on researching Central America, with a
particular focus on reproductive rights work and Indigenous
sovereignty and political movements. On campus, Alex is the
president of ¡Oye! Spoken Word, a founder of Yale Lawtinas, and
is a Head Student Coordinator at La Casa Cultural. She has had
previous experience interning at the advocacy branch of Planned
Parenthood Votes! CT, as well as legal experience with the intake
unit at Legal Aid DC. She is motivated by making legal services
more accessible and increasing human rights for Central American
