Alexandra Helfgott

Alexandra Helfgott is an MPP student passionate about the intersection of energy equity, education, and economic development. She is also interested in the US-Mexico relationship, specifically the impact of Mexico’s domestic politics on bilateral relations.

Alexandra has spent the past four years working at the Wilson Center, researching and writing about global supply chains – critical minerals, semiconductors, and electric vehicles – as well as energy in North America. In addition, she worked with Wilson’s Mexico Institute to lead the 2024 Mexico Elections Guide, the premier English-language resource for Mexico’s recent electoral cycle. Prior to joining the Wilson Center, Alexandra worked as a Fulbright García Robles English Teaching Assistant in Mexico City and Guadalajara, Mexico.

During her time at Yale, Alexandra hopes to grow her knowledge and gain further expertise on the topics of energy policy, the economics of inequality, and the US-Mexico relationship. She plans to pursue a career dedicated to strengthening the bilateral relationship with a focus on developing sustainable, strategic, and equitable energy policy to improve economic competitiveness in both countries. Alexandra graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College at the College of Charleston with degrees in Political Science and Spanish.
