Kirsten Traudt

Kirsten Traudt is a PhD student in the Department of Classics and is also pursuing a certificate in the Material Histories of the Human Record program. Her research explores the representation of power and status in Latin literature of all periods, with a focus on didactic and historiographical texts. She is especially interested in Latin poetry and prose written in and about Latin America in the Early Modern period by members of the Society of Jesus, as well as classicizing representations of the Americas created by Early Modern Europeans. Additionally, Kirsten is a co-organizer of the Whitney Humanities Center's American Classicisms working group, which provides a venue for research on the reception of premodern cultures in the Americas from the Early Modern period until the present day.
