Maya Aidlin-Perlman
Maya is a rising junior double majoring in Global Affairs
and Economics with a focus on international development and
gender economics. With personal connections to both Cuba and
Spain, she has a particular interest in US-Cuba relations. To
that end, Maya is creating a dialogue program between students at
Yale and the University of Havana, aimed at fostering
conversation on the economic and political dynamics of the U.S.
and Cuba and how these relationships have evolved over time.
Beyond this initiative, Maya’s work has included research on
gender economics in Cuba, teaching courses related to Latin
America and Spain through Hemispheres (the nonprofit, educational
branch of the Yale International Relations Association), serving
as an English teacher for native Spanish speakers, interning for
Oxfam Intermón in Spain, and studying abroad for semesters in
Havana and Madrid.
