Rashel Chipi

Rashel is a senior in Trumbull studying history. She is
chiefly interested in studying how Cuban history intertwines with
U.S. and Latin American histories. Nineteenth century revolutions
throughout Latin America, transnational migration, effects of the
Cuban Revolution on Latin American nations, and Cold War
dynamics, show how Cuba has had major foreign policy influence in
the region despite its small size. Most recently, she has been
organizing an event for Cuban historian Ada Ferrer to discuss her
book Cuba: An American History on campus. She is emeritus chair
of the Cuban-American Undergraduate Students Association and
frequently publishes articles about Latin American developments
in the Yale Politic. She studied Portuguese for several semesters
and is fluent in Spanish. When she is not studying Spanish
colonialism or Cuban history, she enjoys strength training,
reading sitcom pilots, and planning her next trip.
