Rodrigo Ortiz Mena Martinez
Rodrigo is a junior majoring in Ethics, Politics, and
Economics. He was born in Mexico City and grew up in Washington
D.C. His main academic interest is Latin American political
economy, focusing specifically on the effects of foreign
investment in Mexico. Rodrigo has worked at BBVA Bank in Mexico
City and has undertaken research in Santiago, Chile to inform an
article about the mass protests that erupted in the country in
2019. Besides political economy, he is passionate about art
history in the region, particularly 20th century Mexican
muralism. Outside of the classroom, Rodrigo enjoys painting,
cooking for his friends, and volunteering at immigrant
organizations in New Haven.
