Veronica Paez-Deggeller

Veronica Paez-Deggeller

Veronica is a rising senior transfer student in Berkeley
College studying Sociology. Raised in Connecticut by Paraguayan
immigrants, Veronica’s research interests center on Paraguayan
history and culture from a colony to a nation-state. Her work
examines the intersections of legal systems, slavery, and the
African diaspora. She is also passionate about Indigenous rights
and histories across Latin America. Outside of her academic
pursuits, she is involved in Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale
as a dancer and wardrobe manager, and works as an FGLI
(First-Generation, Low Income) Thrive mentor for the Office of
Educational Opportunity. In her free time, she loves reading and
baking.
