Membership Process

Anyone, anywhere in the world, can sign up to receive announcements of REEESNe activities and opportunities that we make available both within and outside of our network. We also welcome those who represent Russian, East European, & Eurasian Studies - in whatever form it may exist, at any institution of higher education in the Northeastern United States - to join us as new members in order to learn about funded opportunities available within the regional network. To do so, please contact Ian MacMillen, Program Manager of the REEESNe initiative. We do not draw firm borders around the Northeast region but generally see it as extending from Maine down to Southern New Jersey and out to Western New York and Pennsylvania. Representation of REEES at a member institution could consist of a professor offering some courses with a REEES focus, a single track of a regional language, a department, a center for regional studies, or anything in between. Your institution need not offer a REEES-related major or minor in order to become a member.

The network’s goals are to coordinate programs to help undergraduate and master’s students at a wide range of institutions pursue their studies and careers (especially ones outside of academia) as well as to facilitate the sharing of information, including details for those programs organized by REEESNe. We therefore seek to connect with scholars and administrators who are A) interested in contributing to the organization of network events AND/OR B) positioned to disseminate information to students, faculty, and staff at their institution who may be interested in attending our events. While we do not see it as necessary for every employee in a REEES-related area to join, we encourage you if you are at all interested in connecting with this initiative to reach out so that we can discuss who and how many people might best represent your institution in the network (this could vary from one to four individuals depending on the diversity of REEES-related offerings at your institution).
