Place and the Making of Literature
Chandrahas Choudhury is a literary critic and fiction writer based in Mumbai, India. Choudhury shot to fame earlier this year when his first novel, Arzee the Dwarf was shortlisted for the 2010 Commonwealth First Book Award. However those involved in literary circles in India have had their eye on Choudhury for some time now. His short stories have been published in the anthologies India, First Proof 2, and India Shining, while his essays and book reviews appear weekly in the Indian newspaper Mint Lounge. Among netizens, Choudhury is well known for his literary blog, �The Middle Stage� which consists of essays on Indian and world literature. Choudhury is also the editor of India: A Traveler’s Literary Companion.
Choudhury is currently a participant the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program and will be speaking on the topic Place and the Making of Literature. His talk will be in Room 203, Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue. The room is wheelchair accessible.
