Eduardo Lichuge

Visiting Associate Professor

Eduardo Lichuge, is a PhD in ethnomusicology from from Aveiro University, (Portugal, 2016), currently serving as Visiting Associate Professor at Yale University, MacMillan Centre, Council on African Studies. He is an associate researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology, Music and Dance (Aveiro University), member of the African Music Study Group (International Council of Traditional Music), He is an International Visitor Leadership Program, (IVLP) alumnus. From 2023-2025, has been lecturing as visiting professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and Rio de Janeiro University, (2023-2025), contributing to academic dialogue on African musical heritage, music and politics, social memory and democratic imaginaries while consulting on community development projects. Recently joined the Africa research group at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, (Brazil), studying communication and misinformation about hunger in Africa. Eduardo Lichuge coordinated international mobility programs and academic partnerships across Europe, Africa and Brazil at the School of Communication and Arts, and is Associate Professor at Eduardo Mondlane University's School of Communication and Arts, Mozambique, where he served as Director (2021-2024) and Vice-Director for Scientific Research (2018-2021).
