My research focuses on the material culture of the Aq Quyunlu Turkmen Confederation (1452-1508). At the peak of their rule, the Aq Quyunlu ruled over a vast territory stretching from the highlands of eastern Anatolia and the plains of Iraq to the urban centers of Iran and the southern Caucasus. I investigate the ways in which craft and scientific practices intersected to project and amplify the Aq Quyunlu's claims to divine kingship.
