Sydnie's dissertation project examines the significance of textiles in Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. The project aims to combine material evidence of textiles and textile production, experimental archaeology, and artistic representations of textiles with ancient literary material.
Sydnie is also interested in the textile traditions of central Europe and Scandinavia, particularly the use of the warp-weighted loom and the gendered division of labor in textile production.
