He earned his Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases with concentrations in Global Health and Implementation Science from the Yale School of Public Health, graduating in 2025. His MPH research focused on community health workers (CHWs) and children with malaria, specifically aiming to better understand the motivations and challenges of the CHWs and assess the severity of pediatric malaria in rural Northern Uganda. Prior to starting at Yale, Brett worked as an ORISE Research Fellow studying food-borne pathogen outbreaks in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He holds two B.S. degrees from the University of Maryland in Microbiology and Medical Anthropology. His research interests lie at the intersection of community-based participatory research in global health, health equity and research ethics, and disease control and prevention in underserved populations.
