Forced labour has become big business in global supply chains, with illegal profits estimated by the International Labour Organization to top $150 billion annually. Over the past few years, governments and corporations have launched a wave of ‘anti-slavery’ legislation and corporate social responsibility initiatives to combat the business of forced labour. This presentation will analyze the effectiveness of these efforts to eradicate forced labour in global supply chains, drawing on original field research and interviews from across the US, Canada, UK, and China. This talk is part of the GLC Brown Bag Lunch Series. Bring your lunch and we’ll provide the drinks & dessert.
