Louise Marlow teaches at Wellesley College, where she is Professor of Religious Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University, and her undergraduate degree in Arabic and Persian from Cambridge University. Her publications include Medieval Muslim Mirrors for Princes: An Anthology of Arabic, Persian and Turkish Political Advice (Cambridge University Press, 2023), Counsel for Kings: Wisdom and Politics in Tenth Century Iran: The Naṣīḥat al-mulūk of Pseudo-Māwardī, 2 vols. (Edinburgh University Press, 2016), and Hierarchy and Egalitarianism in Islamic Thought (Cambridge University Press, 1997).
