Seema Khurana

Seema Khurana joined the Yale faculty on July 1, 2001. Along with elementary, intermediate and advance Hindi courses, she also teaches three Hindi literature courses – ‘Hindi in Diaspora’, ‘Hindi Literature and Public Culture’ and ‘Writings Pre and Post Independence India’. She was instrumental in establishing Yale Hindi Debate, that began as a student’s idea in 2008, now sees participation from faculty and students from USA’s preeminent schools, including Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, NYU, Cornell, UCLA, Wesleyan, Rutgers, the University of Texas at Austin, Kansas University and Wellesley College. She has been working on the "Partition Narrative" project, to create an oral history of the Partition by conducting and recording interviews. In 2000, she produced the first Hindi-book-on audiotape in the U.S., starting with Amrita Pritham's "Pinjar." Her short stories and poems have been published in various Hindi-language magazines and anthologies.
