Elizabeth Evans

2026 Yale & Slavery Teachers Institute Cohort Member

Elizabeth is a progressive secondary Social Studies teacher with more than 15 years experience in Fairfax County Public Schools in Northern Virginia.  During that time, she has taught a wide range of classes, including World History, both ancient and modern, AP US History and IB Geography.  As an instructional leader, Elizabeth has worked to promote equitable grading and assessment practices with a focus on student self assessment and metacognition.  Beyond the classroom, she has served as a School-Based Technology Specialist and Social Studies Department Chair.  Elizabeth is incredibly excited to learn with a new group of colleagues and collaborators this summer, and especially to focus on building empathy and critical thinking through interdisciplinary thinking and learning.
