Cristian De La Rosa

The Rev. Dr. Cristian De La Rosa joined Boston University in 2011 as Assistant Professor of Contextual Theology and Practice and Director of Contextual Education and Community Partnerships for the School of Theology. Originally from Mexico, Dr. De La Rosa is an ordained elder with the New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is a graduate from the University of The Pacific in Stockton, CA, and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. She received her Ph. D. in Theology and Ethics from Chicago Theological Seminary where her dissertation focused on contextual dynamics of power and agency. 

Her areas of interest and research include Feminist and Mujerista Theologies, cultural theory, Latin American Liberation Theology, Urban Ministry, and the Hispanic/Latino community and its religious history.  She is invested in ecumenical dialogue thorough scholarship, teaching, and community organizing. She currently serves on the leadership team for the National Association of UM Latina Clergy Women (ACLAMEN), as National Director for the Hispanic Youth Leadership Academy (HYLA), and as co-director for the Raices Latinas Program on Theology, Leadership and Research.
