Carlos Flores Manzano

Carlos is a Salvadoran archaeologist, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Archeology at UTEC in El Salvador, then received a scholarship to study a Master’s degree in Archaeological Materials Science in Portugal, Greece and Italy. His fieldwork experience has focused on archaeological sites in El Salvador such as El Trapiche (Chalchuapa), Cuscatlán (San Salvador Metropolitan Area), Ciudad Vieja (Suchitoto), among others.
Carlos has a wide variety of interests, including paleoenvironmental reconstruction, paleobotany, preventive archaeology, public archaeology and salvadoran identities. One of his main interests is to understand how volcanic eruptions shaped and affected cultural dynamics in the Southern Mesoamerican Frontier, between the Middle Preclassic and Protoclassic periods.
Carlos held the position as Chair of ICOM El Salvador National Committee, and now forms part of the salvadoran national committee board of directors.
