Hanna Klingbeil Canale

Hanna is a rising sophomore in Saybrook College studying Ethics, Politics, and Economics, and is interested in pursuing a certificate in Global Health Studies. Born in Mexico City and raised in Connecticut, her academic interests focus on health equity in Latin America, particularly accessible healthcare for underserved and indigenous communities in Mexico. She is also interested in democratization efforts, with a focus on electoral competition, judicial independence, and press freedom. At Yale, she serves as the Multimedia Managing Editor of The Politic, where she has written on Mexico’s 2024 judicial reform and profiled an award-winning Mexican photojournalist who covered cartel violence and global conflicts. She is also a member of the consulting team at the Urban Philanthropic Fund, where she developed funding strategies and outreach plans for the Women and Families Center. Before Yale, she volunteered as a citizenship and English tutor at Building One Community. She is a recipient of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s Youth Award and has a personal interest in photography as a form of storytelling and reporting.
