Kaley Mafong

Kaley is an undergraduate student in Yale College studying Spanish and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB). Hailing from San Diego, California, she is interested in the development of US-Mexico relations and the formation of cultural practices in Latin American borderland territories. Her senior research project adopts a narrative approach to examine the evolution of Chinese diasporic identity in La Chinesca, Mexicali during the 20th century. On campus, Kaley remains involved with the local Latinx community dancing and choreographing in the baile folklorico group and serving as a Spanish medical interpreter at a local free clinic.
