Pablo Macias Lopez

Pablo is a sophomore in Ezra Stiles College majoring in Film and Media Studies, originally from Aguascalientes, Mexico and North Las Vegas, NV. Pablo's passion for capturing cosmic and natural phenomena with human lives through the filmic apparatus presents a uniquely ontological position to explore beyond the hard limits of science, film, and cinematic technologies. His scholarship in film studies, marked by particular interests in the medium-specific universe of filmmaking and sound studies, encompasses a desire to understand immersive hyperreal cinema and film screen scoring through cognitive synchresis practices. Pablo's work encompasses consulting for sustainable practices during filmmaking, especially through understandings of soundscape ecologies and green productions. He also centers his work on the preservation and exhibition of Mexican cinema on celluloid film, and developing sustainable filmmaking practices reducing cinematic footprints with celluloid and digital film. He enjoys studying and composing film scores, reading about Yale's architectural histories, engaging in astronomy and film outreach in New Haven and internationally, and dancing to cumbia!
