David Minchin Allison

David Minchin Allison is a political scientist with a focus on the intersection of emerging technology and strategic stability. He is a lecturer at Yale University and a fellow with the Yale Nuclear Security Program. Dave is member of the Mid-Career Cadre at the Project on Nuclear Issues, Center for Strategic and International Studies, and a former Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Research Fellow with The Project on Managing the Atom at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School.

Dave’s research draws on experimental methods to examine the foundations of nuclear deterrence and threats to strategic stability, particularly challenges posed by emerging technologies. His broader interests include measuring the psychological impact of algorithmic inputs on human decision-making as well as perceptions and misperceptions surrounding new developments in nuclear, conventional, and unconventional capabilities. He has conducted research in Iraq, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. Prior to academia, Dave served as an officer in the United States Army, deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
