Makda Assefa

Makda Assefa is a senior at Yale University, originally from Ethiopia & Kenya. She is pursuing a BA in Global Affairs and History, along with a certificate in Human Rights. Her academic and research interests center around migration, resettlement, and post-conflict societies in the global south. She looks forward to exploring these interests through the Regional Futures Lab. Throughout her time at Yale, she has served on the board of the Yale International Relations Association as the Director of Yale Hemispheres, volunteered with New Haven Reads, and spent a total of 6 months interning at immigration law-focused nonprofits. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry, listening to afrobeats, and spending time with friends.
