Event description: 

Aslı Bâli is a Professor of Law at Yale Law School where her teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of international law and comparative constitutional law, with a focus on the Middle East. She is co-editor of Federalism and Decentralization in the Middle East and North Africa (Cambridge University Press, 2023).
Benoit Challand is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the New School for Social Research, where he teaches social theory and political sociology and his research is in historical sociology. He is the author of Violence and Representation in the Arab Uprisings (Cambridge University Press, 2023).
Kian Tajbakhsh is a Senior Advisor at Columbia Global Centers, Columbia University, where he works on university-wide initiatives focused on global migration and serves as a professor of international relations in Columbia’s Committee on Global Thought. He is the author of Creating Local Democracy in Iran: State-Building and the Politics of Decentralization, (Cambridge University Press, 2022).
