Tristan Perlroth Prize

Tristan Perlroth of Portola Valley, California, Grace Hopper College ’93, passed away from cardiac arrest on May 23, 1992, while shooting baskets with a good friend at Menlo-Atherton High School near his home. He had completed his junior year at Yale and returned home to study for the Law School Admission Test before going to London for the summer to work in an international business as the recipient of a McDonnell-Douglas Fellowship.

Committed to experiencing the world and working to make a difference in the human condition, Tristan traveled extensively throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Tristan was a dual major in History and International Studies and enjoyed the mastery of different languages. He spoke French, Spanish and German and had studied Italian. He played on the varsity water polo team and had been elected its captain for 1993. He was captain of the Hopper swimming team and a member of the Yale Political Union.

It is the wish of the Perlroth family that those who travel with the assistance provided by this prize and, like Tristan, share the same formative experiences at Yale, will have the opportunity to relive his adventures vicariously and profit from them.
