MacMillan Center International Book Prizes

The MacMillan Center awards two prizes annually for books written in English on international topics, named for two former directors of the Center. Each year, the Gustav Ranis International Book Prize is awarded for the best book by a Yale ladder faculty member, and the Gaddis Smith International Book Prize is awarded for the best first book by a Yale ladder faculty member. Award recipients receive a research appointment at the MacMillan Center and $5,000 in research funds.

The submission deadline for books published in 2024 is March 7, 2025.

Each faculty member who make a submission will receive an email from the MacMillan Center confirming receipt of their book; if you have not received an email by the deadline, please contact macmillan.development@yale.edu.
