Book Prize Questions

Please read through the FAQs. Further questions and inquiries should be sent to macmillan@yale.edu.

  1. Can I submit the same book to each prize? Books nominated for the Gaddis Smith International Book Prize (first book by a Yale ladder faculty member) can also be submitted for the Gustav Ranis International Book Prize (most outstanding book by a Yale ladder faculty member).
     
  2. Can I nominate my own book? Yes, self-nominations are perfectly acceptable.
     
  3. I have a book being published in early 2026. Can I submit that book for consideration? No, books submitted for the 2026 book prizes must have been published in 2025.
     
  4. Are books written in a non-English language eligible? No, in order to be eligible, books must be written in English.
