Dinesh Kataria
Dinesh Kataria's research focuses on the urban planning discourse in post-colonial India to present. Combining archival material with ethnography, his work looks at multiple, contesting imaginations of post-colonial city - a site of 'patriotic' production, a refuge/home for expression of modern nation, a place of residence- in Nehruvian period. The recent transformation of city as a site of production to a place of consumption has radically recasted the older vision of city, albeit, the contestation between them continues.
At Yale, he will be researching on the intervention of American urban planners, institutes, and agencies in India. Albert Mayer and Ford Foundation are two of them.
