Rodrigo Hernandez-Merlin
Rodrigo Hernandez-Merlin is a recent graduate from Yale College where he received a B.A. in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration with Honors. His work in the degree generally focused on studying Indigenous movements in Mexico during the 19th and 20th century. In college, Rodrigo worked on research analyzing Indigenous languages from colonial sources and documenting the immigration of various communities from Latin America into New Haven. He was also involved in Havenly Treats Inc. where he was part of the support team for the fellowship program meant to assist refugee and migrant women. During his year as a Fox Fellow, he did a project on how the legacy of the Mexican Revolution affected infrastructure development in the southern state of Oaxaca, specifically looking at the interrelation between the urban and rural sphere and the transition away from private companies. He is currently collaborating on a book project that will serve as a teaching tool for the Zapotec language of Santa Ines Yatzeche, Zimatlán.
