Terms, Conditions, and Entitlements for OUTGOING Students

The Fox International Fellowship entitles you to the following:

  • A stipend to cover living expenses, as specified in the award letter.

  • Travel Stipend to cover the cost of travel to and from Partner University, as specified in the award letter. Once you receive the visa and are ready to book the tickets, the program will process the Travel Stipend for payment.

  • Health Insurance: Fellows will be covered by International SOS Global Travel Assistance. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions prior to departure.

Dates of the Program:

The fellowship is given for the purpose of 10 to 12 months of full-time research at the Partner University. The exchange dates should align with the Partner University Academic calendar whenever possible. The Coordinator at the Partner University will confirm the exact dates.

Other Funding:

Fox Fellows are required to inform the Fox Fellowship office if they possess or acquire any other source of funds during the Fellowship year. The Fox Fellowship reserves the right to adjust your Fox Fellowship funding accordingly.

The Fellowship is Full-Time:

The fellowship is given for the purpose of 10 to 12 months of full-time research at the Partner University. Fellows are not allowed to work during the fellowship period unless approved by the Director of the Fox Fellowship.

Immunizations Record:

Yale University strongly encourages all students to receive all COVID-19 vaccinations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , for which they are eligible. For more information, visit https://campushealth.yale.edu/covid-19-information.

Residential:

Fellows are expected to be in residence at the Partner University (at least 80%) for the duration of the fellowship, excluding research travel approved by the Director of the Fox Fellowship, and formal academic recesses (holidays and breaks).

Engagement with the Partner University:

  • Fellows are expected to engage proactively and in good faith with the academic community at the partner university.

  • Fellows are not required but can take courses at the partner university. They have to seek the university’s permission and will be responsible for any fees.

Final Report:

Fox fellows are required to submit a 3-page final report detailing their academic progress and describing their involvement with the host institution and the host country.

Research and conference funds:

Fellows are permitted to apply for additional funds up to $2,000 for the purpose of fieldwork, archival work, or conference presentations. Decisions will be made by the Academic Director of the Fox Fellowship.

Items not included:

The fellowship does not provide for expenses in connection with visa fees, passports, or photograph expenses.

Remedies:

Gross violation of these terms may result in termination or suspension of the Fox Fellowship award.
