Yale University, United States
Yale University is one of the world’s most distinguished centers of learning and research. Originally founded in 1701, the University is named in honor of Elihu Yale, whose generosity made possible the completion of the first college building in New Haven in 1718. As a Fox International Fellow, your home will be the Macmillan Center, which is Yale’s center for international affairs. The University has approximately 11,000 students and is organized in twelve schools: Yale College, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and ten professional schools for the study of Art, Architecture, Divinity, Drama, Forestry and Environmental Studies, Music, Law, Management, Medicine (including Epidemiology and Public Health), and Nursing.
The University offers outstanding facilities for research. The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Center for British Art, the Collection of Musical Instruments, as well as the extensive resources at the Medical School and other professional schools are available to all students. Yale also participates in a library consortium with other academic institutions and Ivy League universities in the region.
Beyond research, life at Yale is full of cultural events and activities. Some arts highlights include concerts by the world-renowned Yale Symphony Orchestra and theatre at the Yale Repertory Theatre and the Yale Cabaret. Masters Teas held in the colleges are another opportunity to interact with distinguished visitors across campus. There are numerous sporting events to engage and attending, including the famous Yale-Harvard football game in the fall.
Yale is located in the small New England town of New Haven, Connecticut, which is just a short train or bus ride to New York City and Boston.
