Bernardo Pacola

Bernardo Pacola is a Ph.D. candidate in Public Law at the University of São Paulo (USP). He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the same institution. He is currently a member of the Constitution, Politics & Institutions research group at USP. His main research interest is on constitutional theory, focusing on the role of representative institutions in constitutional democracies. His doctoral dissertation applies the concept of freedom as non-domination to the doctrinal development of the protection of human rights in private relations, with the goal of developing a broader theory of the role of democratic legislation in protecting citizens against private power. Bernardo has previously worked as an attorney at a law firm in São Paulo, Brazil, where he specialized in Administrative and Constitutional Law.
