Débora Donida da Fonseca

Fox International Fellow

Débora Donida is a Ph.D. student in the faculty of law at the University of São Paulo (USP). She received her master’s degree from Brasília University (UnB), specializing in Public Law, and her bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). She is currently a member of the Constitution, Politics & Institutions Research Group at USP.  Her research project intends to build a theoretical framework of the “constitutional right to lobby”, going beyond the most common concerns of this agenda with ensuring transparency as part of the fight against corruption, to reflect on ways to overcome economic and social obstacles to the diversification of actors who have access to decision-makers. Therefore, the research aims to conceptualize this right to lobbying within the limitations of its applicability, using comparative constitutional law methodology to formulate a proposal for participatory and transparent lobbying adaptable to different legal systems. Prior to commencing her doctoral research, Débora worked in research teams at Center for the Analysis of Liberty and Authoritarianism (LAUT), Fiocruz, University of Brasília and University of Antwerp.
