Ahmed Nur

PhD Student

Ahmed Nur is broadly interested in the conceptions and transmissions of knowledge and authority across Eurasia. His dissertation project deals with the contested concept of true knowledge and changing configurations of the sciences among the medieval and early modern Islamic authors. It highlights the contribution of Ahmed Tashkoprizade (1495-1561), the Ottoman scholar who taught at madrasas in today's Greece, Macedonia and Northwestern Turkey, and produced cutting-edge works in many fields. Nur's research was funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, the European Commission, and The Andrew Mellon Foundation.
