Alice Yang
PhD Student
Alice is a Ph.D student in French. She holds a B.A. in Literature and Comparative Cultures from Yale and an M.A. in Lettres modernes from the École normale supérieure de Lyon. She is broadly interested in poetry, poetics, and translation, with a focus on the role of form and sound in the creation, reception, and translation of poetry. Her work has previously focused on modern poetry in French and English, though she hopes to study other European languages and literatures.
Alice is also a literary translator. Her first book of translations, Abounding Freedom by Julien Gracq, was published by World Poetry Books in May 2024.
