Anna Aldins
Anna Baiba Aldins is a doctoral candidate in Musicology, with research interests in ancient music, the history of music theory, and computational musicology. Her research examines musical transmission in sections of the ancient and medieval worlds, through tracing variations in traditional song collections and the application of computational methods to the corpus of Greek-language musical papyri. With the support of Yale's Keggi-Berzins Fellowship for Baltic Studies in the summer of 2023, she conducted research at the Latvian National Library in Rīga during the 150th anniversary of the Latvian National Song Festival. She has presented her work at national and international conferences, in both English and Latvian. Anna received her Bachelors of Science in Music from MIT, with additional study in Mathematics and Ancient and Medieval Studies. Outside of her research, Anna is an active performer – she has practiced sabar drumming, and grew up singing with Boston’s Latvian community. She has sung with the New York Latvian Concert Choir since she moved to New Haven to begin her graduate studies.
