Dean is a senior in Jonathan Edwards College at Yale University, majoring in Global Affairs and East Asian Studies. Through the Light Fellowship, he spent the 2022-2023 academic year living in Nagoya, Japan. He has conducted research on Turkey's historical relationship with Japan and its implications for modern policymaking between the two countries. His current research focuses on immigration in Japan, particularly the role of Kurdish and Vietnamese communities within the country's evolving labor landscape. Dean is also interested in the EU’s relationship with East Asia and broader global migration trends.
