Justin Kim

Undergraduate Student

Justin Kim is a student at Yale College, double majoring in Economics and History. After taking Timothy Snyder’s "The Making of Modern Ukraine," he became interested in how historical interpretations of politicized events, such as the Treaty of Pereyaslav in 1654 and the Holodomor of 1932–1933, shape modern conceptions of national identity. He has worked at Razom for Ukraine, a leading Ukrainian-American advocacy group, where he produced foreign policy research and policy memos. His academic coursework spans financial crises, the intellectual history of economic thought, and post-war reconstruction in Europe. He applied these interests most recently at the macro hedge fund Kate Capital, where he built economic dashboards and analyzed trade flows, yield curves, and macroeconomic data, including for European markets. Outside the classroom, he serves on the boards of the Yale Debate Association and Yale Alternative Investments, represents Hopper College in the Yale College Council, and volunteers with the New Haven Urban Debate League.
