Ken Huynh

Ken Huynh is a current senior in Yale College researching the role of Roman amphitheaters as a focal point between local cultures/identities and the imperial cult. First, his research traces the architectural structure of amphitheaters from the Roman center to the periphery in order to understand how local identities become more present within the design as amphitheaters move farther from the center. Second, Ken focuses on how local identities manifest through performances in amphitheaters, which symbolize the imperial cult, yet serve as a tool in which local communities could negotiate their place within the broader imperial narrative.
