Liliana Milkova, the Nolen Curator of Education and Academic Affairs, leads the Yale University Art Gallery’s Education Department, overseeing Academic Affairs, Public Education, Public Programs, and Student Engagement. Before joining the Gallery in 2019, Liliana directed the Office of Academic Programs at the Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College. Liliana holds an A.B. in Art History and Old World Archaeology from Brown University and a PH.D. in Modern and Contemporary Art from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her postdoctoral specialization in the Department of Photographs at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. She has published on object-based pedagogy, 20th-century European and American art, and Soviet political propaganda. She has held several prestigious fellowships, most recently at the Centre for Advanced Study in Sofia, Bulgaria during the 2023-24 academic year.
