Nicole Chen
Nicole Chen is a student from New York City, majoring in Political Science and pursuing an Education Studies certificate.
She is interested in international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, currently researching arms control treaties with Professors Alexandre Debs and Matthew Fuhrmann to develop a theory on why nations pursue such agreements. As part of the 2025 Grand Strategy cohort, she will conduct her summer research project abroad to explore the implications of the decline of nuclear arms control agreements and potential alternatives for maintaining nuclear stability.
Additionally, Nicole has completed a research project on youth support for far-right extremism in Germany, which inspired a long-form cover story for The Yale Politic, a student-run publication on politics and culture. While studying abroad in Freiburg, Germany, she undertook a comparative research project on AI regulations between the EU and the US. She hopes to continue her studies in these diverse areas.
Outside her academic work, Nicole serves as Editor-in-Chief of The Yale Politic, edits for the Yale Undergraduate Law Journal, and works as an undergraduate intern at the Yale Law School Journal. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and trying new cuisines with friends!
