Sebastián Andrés Grandas
PhD Student

Sebastián Andrés (he/him) is investigating translingual literature, creative self-translation, and ‘cannibalistic’ literary-philosophical styles. Sebastián is researching the ways in which Latin American and African artists and translators have reworked, rewritten, and subverted colonial languages, ‘northern’ modes of thought, and modernist cultural forms. His recent writing explores a set of artists who write ‘across’ and ‘in-between’ multiple languages, cultures, and continents –– complicating assumptions behind literary representation, cultural exchange, and transparent knowledge of self.
