Serena Strecker is a Ph.D. candidate in History studying religious communication in late medieval and early modern Europe, especially among German-speaking Lutheran and Catholic writers. Her dissertation explores the development of medieval sermon exempla into the early modern period. It uses HTR and advanced search tools borrowed from corpus linguistics to trace how both Lutherans and Catholics adapted this tradition of religious storytelling to convey the beliefs and behaviors necessary for a good Christian life. She maintains interests in women's and gender studies, book history and media studies, and digital humanities approaches.
