Thomas' dissertation work examines modern and contemporary poetry and drama from the U.K. and Ireland in light of the historic entanglement of classics and empire, making the case for reading certain English and Anglo-Irish authors’ engagement with classical texts “postimperially.” He is also interested in Latin literature of the 1st centuries AD and BC, and has presented on the effects of Roman hegemony over the Mediterranean on authors writing in the early years of the Roman Empire.
