Yash Wadwekar

Yash is an undergraduate doubling majoring in History with a concentration in empires and colonialism, with a focus on the British Raj. He is deeply engaged in exploring the intersections of British colonial history and its lasting influence on South Asian communities with regard to public health and migration. He was awarded the Robert S. Kilborne Memorial Traveling Scholarship by Yale University, which supported independent research in England, culminating in a project about the British Raj's deindustrialization of India and its post-colonial impacts in South Asia and England. He will present this research at the American Historical Association's annual conference in January.

In addition to historical research, Yash has a strong passion for legal reform. He contributed research to the Constitution Hill Global Guidelines on Apex Court Appointments, which were formally launched at the Constitution Hill summit in May 2024. He also served on the 146th Managing Board of the Yale Daily News and was a city reporter covering New Haven policing. In his free time, Yash enjoys submitting to Yale literary journals, playing pickup basketball, and biking around East Rock.
