Youssef Mazouz
Youssef is a student in Branford College who is a prospective History and Political Science major. Focusing on the evolution of US foreign policy as it relates to Europe, he is interested in studying the intersection between the current geopolitical landscape and patterns arising from the United State's transition from 19th century isolationism to a broader post WWII engagement with Europe. He is also interested in the continuing evolution of NATO after the Cold War, and the implications of the alliance's expansion as it pertains to Russia, and the increasing defense responsibility taken on by European nations. With a more specific focus the United State's relationship with the European Union, he is interested in researching the implications of the EU's increasing diplomatic and regulatory power, and the shifting dynamics arising from modern US foreign policy and shifting European national identity in the face of competing political ideologies.
